Mr JazziQ is Spotify’s most streamed local artist by Gen Z

DJ and producer Mr JazziQ is the most streamed local artist by South Africa’s Gen Z on Spotify.

The incredible feat by the Alexandra-born artist was revealed by the streaming service as part of its celebration of Youth Month in June.

Noting that a third of South Africa’s population is made up of youth, Spotify released data that revealed the top genres, artists, songs and podcasts being streamed by South Africa’s Gen Z audience, specifically those between the ages of 13 to 17 years.

AmaPiano continues to dominate the music scene with artists in the genre claiming all top 10 spots on the list of the most streamed local songs by youth between the ages 13 to 17 years. Mr JazziQ is the most streamed local artist by South African youth, earning more streams than the rest of the top 5 of Busta 929, A-Reece, Nasty C and Kabza De Small.

Mr JazziQ is widely acknowledged as a pioneer of Amapiano, through the Jazzi Disciples duo, that both helped shape the genre and established it as a thriving industry, and his own work, including his recent release Party with the English. The prolific producer, artist, and entrepreneur has also established Junk Park in Alex as the home of Amapiano.
